IT welds business to success

A South West distributor of machinery and equipment for welding with depots across the south of England, is using the latest business IT solutions to keep on top of its growing business.

Wellington Welding has its head office in Plymouth, and operates depots in Avonmouth, Redruth, Barnstaple, Watford, Poole and Southampton. It supplies equipment for welding to over 10,000 customers across the south of England, in sectors such as heavy engineering, manufacturing, shipbuilding and quarrying.

It is just celebrating its biggest order in the history of the business and, according to managing director Philip Goldney, the latest IT solutions installed and maintained by Francis Clark Computing Technologies are helping the company to process orders and develop growth efficiently and effectively across the south of England.

Mr. Goldney said: “We have been in business for over 40 years operating in an industrial engineering environment. We are not a high tech business, but we need high tech business solutions and when we decided that our IT systems needed a complete upgrade we turned to experts who we knew would not only put the right system in place, but also provide us with top quality ongoing support and advice.”

He added: “Francis Clark Computing Technologies has replaced all our PCs and installed new servers so that we can operate at optimum efficiency across our depots in southern England. The benefits are already becoming evident, and we are in a position to build on recent successes – including the biggest order in the history of the business. Francis Clark Computing Technologies is a customer focused business that has provided me with a superb team of experts who have taken the strain out of IT.”

Chris Alphey, technical manager of Francis Clark Computing Technologies, commented: “Wellington Welding is the perfect example of a traditional business operating in an industrial environment which has invested widely in the latest IT systems to create efficiencies and improved working practices, to the ultimate benefit of the business and its customers.

He added: “Wellington Welding is using the technology we have installed to increase its business and improve communications across its depots in the south of England.”
